Answers about this tool
- What does this PAYE estimate include?
- It estimates monthly income tax after the statutory deductions and reliefs shown on this page, including NSSF, SHIF, Affordable Housing Levy, resident personal relief, and any eligible adjustments entered.
- Is this estimate the same as my final payslip?
- No. Employer benefits, exemptions, pension arrangements, eligibility, and payroll treatment can change the final amount. Confirm your figures with payroll or KRA.
How this estimate works
Uses the monthly individual tax bands and resident personal relief published by KRA. Taxable employment income is reduced by NSSF, SHIF, Affordable Housing Levy, and the eligible deductions entered below. Pension deductions share a KSh 30,000 monthly limit with NSSF; post-retirement medical contributions and mortgage interest are capped at KSh 15,000 and KSh 30,000. Insurance relief is 15% of qualifying premiums, capped at KSh 5,000 monthly. Other benefits, exemptions, and individual payroll rules can change the result.
This calculator provides an estimate for planning. Your actual liability or payroll deduction may differ based on eligibility, employer treatment, other income, and current rules. Confirm amounts with the relevant authority or a qualified tax professional.
