SenderID Guidelines:
- The SenderID must adhere to the following criteria:
- Minimum length: 3 characters
- Maximum length: 11 characters
- Derived from and closely related to your business name
- No spaces or special characters (except underscore "_")
- If the SenderID is intended for transactional messages, include a sample of the messages to be sent on the consent form.
SenderID Types:
- Transactional SenderID:
- Used for transaction-related messages (e.g., payment notifications, banking alerts, billing information).
- Advantages: Even if someone has blocked marketing messages, transactional messages will still be delivered.
- Disadvantages: Telcos (e.g., Safaricom) enforce strict rules, and any marketing content will result in immediate suspension.
- Promotional SenderID:
- Intended for marketing purposes.
- Disadvantages: Recipients who have blocked marketing SMS (by dialing 4569*5#) will not receive promotional messages.
- Note: While promotional messages have greater leniency, avoid excessive uproar or any fraudulent activities.
INTERNATIONAL TRAFFIC:
- "International traffic" typically refers to telecommunications activity involving communication between parties in different countries. These are currently NOT allowed, and if found to be terminating international traffic, your senderID will be suspended.
- Reasons for suspension could include violations of regulatory requirements, such as not having the necessary permissions or licenses to send international messages or make international calls. Additionally, telecommunications providers may suspend sender names or numbers if they detect suspicious or fraudulent activity, such as spamming or scamming through international channels.
